HubSpot Website Migrations

An accurate recreation of your website within HubSpot’s CMS that allows you to leverage the power of the platform’s integrated tools.

Overview of HubSpot Website Migrations

When migrating your website to HubSpot, you’ll get defined system and page templates that match your current site’s style closely. You’ll also have your assigned migrations expert to assist you during the process.

You should note that this does not represent a design or redesign process. Instead it is a standardisation service during which HubSpot’s standard modules are used to closely match your current website.

HubSpot’s migration experts will move your website design & content onto the platform, as well as standardised coded files, global groups and templates that match your current external site’s aesthetics. If migrating to HubSpot causes any URLs to change, your specialists will design URL mapping to ensure that your SEO credit is retained.

Here we offer a few examples of the features & content that HubSpot is not able to migrate:

  • Blog comments, but the HubSpot blog comments module is there for you to use.
  • Image menus, mega menus & menus featuring paragraphs/descriptions or other non-linked content. They will translate as simple drop-down menus.
  • Flash navigation, Flash websites or Flash with multiple files or embedded links.
  • Live chat, however, some types of Javascript service can be acceptable.
  • 3rd-party bespoke widgets for social sharing, but what is included are Facebook and Twitter feeds.
  • 3rd-party plugins e.g Facebook commenting, Disqus.
  • Banner notification & pop-up forms
  • Dynamic shopping carts & cart item count. The cart’s icon is included.
  • Log-in fields.

Here we show you a few examples of features and content that could change during the process of migrating your site onto the HubSpot platform:

  • Layouts may change. Functionality & layout will be as closely matched as is possible within the bounds of what HubSpot tools can do.
  • Column widths, non-standard fonts and exact spacing.
  • Posts are categorised using tags, so if you use both categories and tags on your blog currently, they will combine into HubSpot tags.
  • HubSpot’s search module will replace any existing search functions.
  • A single template is used by HubSpot for blogs, so all blogs you create need to have a consistent format. Any that don’t adhere to this rule will need to be changed in line with this requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my business branding to customise a template from Marketplace?

No, you can’t. Should you wish to add your branding to a Marketplace template, you should talk to the template provider about customising it.

Can all of the language options be transferred over during migration?

Yes, it will. So long as all of the content shares a common subdomain.

Is a live URL needed for migration of the URL?

Yes it does. When migrating your website, we aim to match your existing style and look as accurately as we can - so we need to see your existing code. This requires a live URL, as PSD file or image is not sufficient to perform the migration.

Can a password-protected page be submitted?

Yes, it can, you need to also provide the username and password to allow us to access it during migration.

What timescale are we looking at for migration completion?

Migrating a website typically takes 2 to 3 weeks from start to finish.

If after my website has migrated, I find some design issues, how do I go about reporting them?

You’ll have a HubSpot Migrations expert helping you through the entire journey and if you find any design issues after completion, you should report the problem to them.

What’s the maximum number of pages that can be migrated?

If your website has over 1,000 pages, it can’t be migrated.

Which specific CMS Hub edition must I have to access the platform’s professional migration services?

If you’re looking for website migration, blog migration or template setup, you’ll need to be either a CMS Hub Enterprise or CMS Hub Professional customer. Should you be a CMS Hub Start user, you can use the platform’s tools to get your website structure and blog content imported. Discover more here.
